The first crop of cabbages from the Siyazisiza Trust project was recently delivered to the Boxer store in eShowe Project a big boost for small farmers Gugu Myeni LOCAL farmers will now have their freshly picked vegetables stocked on Boxer Superstore shelves as part of a project to assist small scale farmers. The project, which is a collaboration between Boxer, the Ackerman Foundation and Siyazisiza Trust, has already produced results as the first crop of cabbages from the Siyazisiza Trust project was recently delivered to the Boxer store eShowe. ‘A few of the farmers accompanied the delivery to see how their produce looked in store, and were excited to see their hard work finally pay off and customers buying their cabbages. ‘Boxer will continue to uplift and support SMMEs in the communities we serve,’ said Boxer Enterprise and Supplier Development Manager, Gary Larkan. Siyazisiza Trust is a non profit organisation founded in 1987 to promote food security through food and craft enterprise development in rural communities. The Ackerman Foundation has provided funding to the trust, which in turn, uses the funding to provide local communities with garden sheds to help farmers wash and sort produce. Boxer then provides space in store for the fresh farm products to be sold to shoppers.
