Eight months ago, the Worcester community was introduced to a much anticipated retailer, Boxer Superstores. The national discount supermarket opened its doors in High Street, and has since proved to be a one-stop, everything-under-one-roof, low price champion. Boxer has been trading for 41 years, and the brand continues to grow throughout South Africa, with a footprint in Swaziland too. Boxer has 246 stores throughout South Africa and Swaziland, across its different trading formats. Currently, there are three Boxer stores in the Western Cape, with plans to expand. At Boxer Worcester, customers will be pleasantly surprised by their shopping experience. The brand is known for convenience along with its low prices, which is evident in its service department offerings. No more do shoppers need to pick up their groceries from one store, then visit others for meat, fruit and vegetables or take away meals. Boxer Worcester offers a wide range of fresh and frozen cuts of meat. Locally sourced fresh produce can also be purchased from Boxer’s fruit and vegetable department, located at the front of the store. Freshly baked bread and delicious confectionary items can be purchased at the in-store bakery, while tasty takeaway meals can be bought from the deli. Juan Miller, store manager, says: “Boxer strives to meet all the needs of our customers. We will continue to deliver excellent service, quality goods and low prices daily.” Besides buying groceries and fresh produce from Boxer, this retailer also offers a range of value added services, such as money transfers, withdrawing money at tills, receiving payment of utility bills and buying airtime. These fantastic services can be done at the till points or at the in-store money kiosk. Boxer Worcester also has a Hollard kiosk in-store with two professional consultants to answer any questions clients may have. The friendly members of staff at Boxer are always ready to help their fellow community members. Every department has its own manager for that special one-on-one service, which customers prefer. You will always be able to find staff on the Boxer store floor. This is just a simple way in which Boxer builds its relationship with its community. Boxer is passionate about its customers, and gives only its very best to the community it serves. Ninety five percent of Boxer Worcester’s staff are local residents, some having found employment only with the opening of the store. A total of 55 staff members work in-store, ensuring that all service areas are working well, and the store always operates at optimum levels. One of the staff members, LeeAnn Lyners, started as a casual when the store opened its doors, and today she is a frontend supervisor. “I started as a casual,” she relates. ‘About six months later, I was made permanent and appointed frontend supervisor. I’ve learnt a lot here, and I hope to learn so much more.” Miller says although Boxer is a discount supermarket, it still offers its shoppers an amazinglooking store to shop in, boasting features from LED lighting to porcelain tiled floors, modern fridges, and much more. Boxer is also very involved in community projects and always ready to help organisations in need. Recently, the store donated 500 lunchboxes to a school in Worcester. Boxer is committed to delivering its very best to their Worcester community.
