Boxer has reached another major milestone in its growth journey, officially opening its 600th store, Boxer Superstores Etwatwa Crossing in Ekurhuleni, Gauteng.

The milestone comes less than a year after Boxer celebrated store number 550 and reflects the continued growth of one of Southern Africa’s fastest-growing discount retailers. From its first store in Empangeni in 1977, Boxer has grown into a multi- national retail business employing more than 37,000 team members in South Africa and Eswatini.

Investing for future growth

Supporting Boxer’s expanding store network is a growing supply chain. The company’s seventh Distribution Centre in Tongaat, KwaZulu-Natal, is now fully operational.

The 32,000m² facility can service up to 120 stores, helping improve stock availability, shorten lead times and support Boxer’s future store rollout programme.

Boxer’s continued expansion is also creating opportunities for communities across Southern Africa. During FY26 alone, approximately 3,400 new jobs were created, while every new store supports a broader network of suppliers, producers, landlords, developers, logistics providers and service partners.

A milestone built by people

Boxer CEO Marek Masojada said the achievement belongs to everyone who has contributed to the Boxer journey. “Reaching 600 stores is an incredibly proud moment for Boxer, but what excites me most is what sits behind that number. It represents thousands of Boxer team members, millions of customers, long-standing partnerships and hundreds of communities that have welcomed us. Our growth has never simply been about opening more stores. It is about creating jobs, supporting suppliers, investing in infrastructure and, most importantly, continuing to deliver exceptional value to our customers.”

The opening of Boxer Superstores Etwatwa Crossing marks another exciting chapter as Boxer continues its long-term growth journey.
