Boxer is proud to support Vukuziphathe Primary School in Hammarsdale, KZN, with an innovative recycling project that’s transforming how schools approach fundraising and environmental care.

The Boxer Recycling Project provides the school with a retrofitted shipping container, complete with slots for recyclable materials like plastics, paper, cardboard, and cans. Pupils bring recyclable items to school, place them in the container, and a local recycling company, Outer West Recyclers, collects the materials for processing. The recycling firm then pays the school for these items, generating much-needed income to purchase supplies and improve school facilities.

“This project is simple yet effective,” said Boxer’s Enterprise and Supplier Development Manager, Gary Larkan, who spearheaded the initiative. “It’s a sustainable way for schools to raise funds while promoting environmental responsibility, and we’re thrilled to see it in action.”

This initiative reflects Boxer’s commitment to uplifting communities through innovative and sustainable projects. As Boxer’s Group Executive for Stakeholder Engagement and Sustainability, Ntombi Dludla explained: “It’s about empowering schools to create their own income while caring for the planet. By teaching schools to fish instead of simply giving the fish, we’re creating long-term solutions.”

To celebrate the launch, Boxer donated R20,000 to the school, shared hundreds of goodie bags with pupils, and provided two massive cakes to mark the occasion. Boxie, Boxer’s beloved mascot, added extra excitement by entertaining the children.

Together, we’re building stronger communities and a greener future—one recyclable item at a time!
